Gasoline production jumps in California
Thursday, November 20, 2008
Central Valley Business Times -- Production of clean-burning formula gasoline jumped 11.6 percent last week over the previous week, the California Energy Commission says.

The state’s refineries made 7,233,000 barrels of gasoline meeting the standards of the California Air Resources Board, so-called “CARB gasoline. The amount was 6.2 percent more than was refined a year earlier.

But as gasoline production increased, the amount of diesel fuel distilled dropped.

They stopped building them in 1999, and the last lease ended in 2003.
They were not forcefully taken, as they were never sold.
They were all leased, and when the lease was over, GM did not offer
an extension and thus they needed to be returned to the owner.

Time for people to get over it and move on.

A drop in diesel production versus gasoline sounds like a GM/Ford/Chrysler approach to the market and life... make more gasoline and force the price of passenger car fuel down, while raising the cost of product transportation and keeping food and commodity prices high... what a great cure for our economic ills - HOWEVER, do *NOT* suggest that the government get involved! US Government has already messed things up (with LOTS of help from "W" and Dickie Boy) by making the once illegal Credit Default Swaps into a legal totally unregulated market, dumping more than a TRILLION DOLLARS into Iraq with darn little to show for it, and turning a blind eye on Wall Street... we don't need more of that kind of "help"!

Don't worry about the truckers, their prices are up and I doubt that they will be bring them down.

That's a special blend. Does that mean that another kind of gas production is dropping?

It's stupid not to maintain proper diesel fuel levels because that's the heart of our economy. With out 18 wheelers and trains we'd not have grocery stores stocked. Case in Point. How many Days did it take to bring Spain to it's knees? 3 whopping DAYS

Mixed news.

A drop in diesel fuel creates more problems for me than more gas. I'm getting ready to head to FL and the truck pulling the fifth wheel doesn't use gas.

California is too high to live in anyway. Prices of everything needs to go down anyway. The rich is getting richer and us poor people do not have anything to count for.

If the production of diesel in down might that mean that the price of diesel goes up? And then won't the price of my lettuce go up? How to win?

The hidden message here is "screw the commercial fleets" and cut the diesel production, just so those crazy commuters can save a nickel on gas.

Oh, I forgot....this is part of that unending blue-sky good-news we'll hear from here on out, now that the great Obama has been elected to save us.

I'm surprised that they're making "California Air Resource Board" compliant fuels during Winter. I thought they only had to do that in Summer, during smog season?

Come on now, we need production of diesel to increase not decrease. More diesel means a drop in prices and hopefully a drop in food prices and other things.
